New Post: Wix Examples

On SourceForge, there exists a tracker for posting of examples.. (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=105970&atid=654188)

Examples posted on the SourceForge site appear to be limited to 256K. Also, there's not much opportunity there for feedback, corrections, and elaboration as are needed to ensure top quality documentation.

As good as SourceForge is, I guess this was part of the motivation for moving Wix to CodePlex.

So, it seems this is as good a place as any to keep the contributions coming...

Well, you've come to exactly the right place. The existing code is very good for example code (although, beware the HttpServer CA code. It is not perfect yet, rollback in particular). Also, as you expected this project is intended to be far less forboding than the core WiX project because the code here isn't used to ship multi-billion dollar projects (I'm not kidding) like the core does.

Cool. I’ve been looking to learn how to write wix extensions / custom actions “correctly” and the wix-contrib project looked interesting from a learning perspective at the least. In the future, I might even be interested in contributing to a project like wix-contrib as it appears a little less frightening a process than the official wix project.

I'd say it's not yet fully alive. Work is progressing and should "come to life" in the next few months.
